2023 Literary Arts Campaign Contribution Recipient
Meet our Literacy Arts Campaign recipient Books with Color. The mission of Books with Color is to increase the accessibility of inclusive and bi-lingual children's reading materials via strategic partnerships between diversity-driven authors and the communities who support them. They will be using the grant money to support a local author to bring a new children's book to life. The author will be announced during the Books with Color Summit on November 11th.
Our History
Books with Color was founded in 2020 by two Charlotte authors who saw first hand that minority children were greatly underrepresented in children's literature. The mutual will to "be the change" and correct this social injustice led our founding Authors to organize and partner with more authors, supporters and friends to solve this problem together, one classroom and one book at a time.
